8/15 Ellis, Kansas

At $20 cash in the envelope, water&electric, and clean pull thru sites YES this is another “Hidden Gem”!

As best we can tell this use to be the site of a railway roundhouse. Now it is 15 campsites along the river and another 15 with cement pads further back. We decided to take a cement pad site as it meant we would be level.

Paul hooked up the water and electric, and we decided to stay inside to have dinner as the sky was getting really dark. Sure enough, it started to rain and the wind was blowing enough to rock us, so we let it rock us to sleep.

The next morning was beautiful, 64 degrees for a couple hours before the temp climbed into the low 80’s by the time we left.

Here are some pictures I enjoyed taking before we got back on the road.

I was curious about the brick building in front of our campsite and especially the added rail with tin cans hanging from it, but I had no clues, only guesses.

On down the road we go… Camel Camel enjoyed the windmills that seemed to follow us for miles…
